Bear is that CHEW?!
Soooo Dellaca or Smellaca (he never smelled, I
was just a mean kid) was my C.A.D. (Computer
Aided Drafting) teacher in 9th Grade...one day I
brought in some shredded beef jerky...the kind
packaged in what LOOKS LIKE a chewing tobacco
container...Chris Turney leaned over to my work
area and took a dip of the jerky and placed it
in his lower lip.....from a distance I noticed
Dellaca was concerned as he glared at Chris with
a questioning look....I then took a dip of the
beef jerky and placed it in my lower lip and put
the container back in my backpack as Dellaca
watched carefully.....Chris and I turned to our
computers to start working with huge gobs of
beef jerky tucked in our bottom lips and we
began to talk like hillbillies...suddenly I felt
the presents of Dellaca standing behind me....he
says in a serious tone "Bear is that Chew?!" I
said in a sarcastic tone "What are you talking
about?" He replied "Don't mess around Bear if
you've got chewing tobacco in your lip I'm
calling Hutch in..." I kept a straight face and
could hear Chris snickering....Dellaca
demands "Give me the chew." as he stands there
with his hand out waiting for me to hand it
over. I said "Dude, I DON'T HAVE
CHEW!"...Dellaca says "I ain't a dude, give me
the CHEW!"...he gets on the phone and calls
Hutch "Hey Hutchinson, this is Richard...we have
a problem you need to come down to my room, it's
Mamie.".....Hutch shows up just seconds
later...Dellaca has a word with him in the
hallway before he comes in....when Hutch enters
the classroom....he points and me and
says "Mamie get your stuff and come with me,
your done."....Before I could continue playing
along with being busted with chewing
tobacco..Turney yells "It's not even chew..it's
beef jerky..GEEEZ!"....after class Dellaca gives
me and Chris this narly speech about pulling
pranks on people and how no one in the "Real
World" wants to hire a clown.....GOOD TIMES!

Memories of Rich
Never could I begin to pick just one memory to
write about Rich. I would just like to comment
that I was blessed to start coaching as a
volunteer wrestling with Rich and Shawn Hall.
There has been and never will be a more positive
role model for me in my life. He tought me how
to get the kids to learn things, without them
knowing what they are doing. His weird and wacky
ways to do things, his never ending spirit, his
smiling upbeat face will forever be embedded in
my mind. I looked up to him, and I began what is
now one of the best wrestling clubs for kids in
the state through Rich's work. Everything we do
is done through his work he put forth. There was
only one Rich Dellaca, and the world was a much
better place with him here to say " how ya doin
Johnno?" "Looking good buddy." So much zest,
inspiration, and love from him. I strive to be
half the man he was to me. I am so glad that you
are honoring him like this.
